🖨️Printworks

The Printworks is the Pious advanced works -- it holds the master plates that open the province's advanced patterns at the Patternworks, presses the Prop Popper, and gates the Paladin.

The Printworks is the Pious province’s advanced works — clean white presses under a red roof, the exact counterpart of the Profane Pitch Priory. It sits one rung above the Patternworks on the tech ladder, and either works satisfies anything that asks for the “advanced works” — including the Protege, the promoted Pupil that can fold advanced patterns.

The Printworks does two jobs:

  • It holds the master plates that open the Pious advanced patterns for design at the Patternworks — the Paladin and the Protege wait on a standing Printworks.
  • It prints directly: the Prop Popper, the Pious anti-air walker, comes off its presses as a kit that a folder raises anywhere.

It needs Parchment on hand to finish construction, so keep a Pusher on the road while it goes up.

Strategy

The Printworks is the hinge of a Pious build — the moment it stands, your line of Pikemen and Pelters gains a Paladin’s Aegis at its head and an answer to enemy fliers. Time it after the Patternworks and before you need what it opens. Because the province’s advanced patterns funnel through it, it is a favourite raid target after the Palace itself: fold it inside your walls, not at the edge of them, and remember that losing it closes off new advanced patterns until you rebuild — though patterns already penned stay penned.
